How to prepare meats, fish and poultry to keep them lean
Always steam, poach, grill, bake, broil or sous vide your meats to keep the fat content low. If you must fry your meat use a nonstick pan and spray a little olive or coconut oil or other healthy oil. Never use a lot of oil and avoid deep fried foods.
How to add flavor
Add herbs such as basil, rosemary, sage, and thyme to make a delicious dish. Lightly season your lean protein using no-salt seasonings such as Mrs. Dash, lemon pepper and other no-salt seasonings.
When possible buy organic protein and produce. You could also grow organic vegetable and herbs in your garden. Good non-organic options are meat, fish, and poultry that are hormone and antibiotic free.
